The Lost Tombs of Luxor
We went filming the Valley of the Kings during a hot week in June and came back with over 13 hours of footage - we managed to shoot some of the most monumental burial chambers, such as KV17 (Seti I), and inside the Museum of Luxor. We lit the frescos with 'colorless' HMI banks, thus rediscovering their original colors. The production is part of an ongoing project by Italian photographer Sandro Vannini, who has spent the past few years capturing life-seize 22-megapixel images of these tombs, creating a stunning collection of work. This is a 5 minutes showreel of the project so far (Standard Definition). (www.sandrovannini.com)
UPDATE 2006: filming has resumed in February and is due to continue through March and April
